About

One practitioner, two ways of working: on your side of the table, or between both sides.

Melanie Becktel

Melanie Becktel

Principal lawyer, director, and accredited mediator.

Melanie has been practising since 2014 and has helped thousands of people through legal systems that were never designed to be understood from the inside.

Her method is facilitative rather than combative: testing each position against what a court would realistically do, so both parties can see the cost of holding out. In most matters, the earlier the settlement, the better the result for everyone involved.

The practice is inclusive and trauma-informed. Adjustments are made to format, pacing, or keeping parties in separate rooms, so that everyone can take part feeling safe and supported.
