Representation
When you need someone on your side of the table: advising, negotiating, and appearing if it comes to that.
Where people usually are when they call
Most people get in touch at one of four points: a letter of demand has arrived, proceedings have been commenced, someone owes them money and has stopped responding, or they are deciding whether starting a claim is worth it at all.
All four are answerable in a single conversation. The first job is establishing what your position is actually worth, not what it feels like it is worth, and what each available path would cost to pursue.
Matters we take on
- Workplace. Pay, conditions, performance, discrimination, bullying, harassment, family responsibilities.
- Civil. Unpaid money, loans, bills, goods and services, property.
- Community. Neighbours, trees, fences, boundaries, retaining walls, noise, development, surveillance.
- Housing. Evictions, repairs, roommates, subtenancies, boarders and lodgers.
- Technology. Intellectual property, data breaches and privacy, artificial intelligence, ICT contracts, governance and service agreements.
How it runs
- 1
Questionnaire
Free, and about ten minutes. It tells us who the dispute is with and what has happened, so we can check for a conflict and decide whether we can act before you spend anything.
- 2
Initial consultation
A first conversation at the hourly rate, to establish the shape of the matter and what each available path would cost to pursue.
- 3
Written advice
A written assessment of your position, the realistic outcomes, and what each option costs. Many matters stop here, because knowing where you stand is often all that was needed.
- 4
Engagement
If you decide to proceed, a costs agreement is provided before any further work begins. No fees are incurred without your written agreement.
- 5
Negotiation
Dealing directly with the other side or their lawyers, aimed at resolving the matter before the cost of proceedings starts to outweigh what is in dispute.
- 6
Proceedings, if needed
Filing, appearances and representation in the relevant Court or Tribunal. Settlement remains on the table at every stage, and usually arrives before hearing.
Common questions
Find out where you stand
The questionnaire costs nothing and takes about ten minutes. It is enough to tell us whether you have a problem worth spending money on.
